17. What’s the hardest you’ve ever worked?
Up until last year, I would have said the Hen House (nickname for photographic packing factory), because it was a seasonal (10 weeks x 50+ hour week) job with a 04:30 wake up call and a 06:15 start. I once posted that I was so tired that I didn’t know if I wanted to eat, sleep or cry. Hen House was only 7 weeks with a far easier 40 hours. This year, it has been Camp A*****e, which went from a bit strenuous to absolutely untenable. No assistance from the guys who deliver the massive cages and having to strong arm thousands of pounds worth of goods off the floor SOLO (like my 71-year-old boss was going to help), while holiday makers milled around and generally got in the way. Also not helped by Overboss being a total dick at the end of the phone, which have caused many good employees to walk – I am now one of them. I will not return, end of story. I have an existing hernia that was aggravated by this and I suspect another one further up my body (I will spare the details, but certain problems have caused my dr to schedule an urgent scan). They did not employ safe procedures and there was very nearly a nasty accident with one of the cages that would've seen me in a far worse position than I am now.
