End of the Year Show - Question 10

Arthur Rackham ~ The Fairies of the Serpentine ~ Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens ~ 1906 | Fairytale art, Art, Arthur rackham

10. What mythical creature do you wish actually existed?

Actual fairies.  When I was a kid, I didn't want to be a princess, I wanted to be Peter Pan - I wanted to fly.  He seemed to have so much more fun than the archetypical princesss, whose main task was to sit and mope in a new dress and hope for a husband.  Peter Pan was ACE - Tinkerbell was annoving, but kinda cute and was the next best thing to actually being Peter Pan.  My mum bought some tights for me that were too long and so the big toe area of the foot became pointed and I could believe I was indeed one of the fairy folk.  One of my best friend's mother used to put Arthur Rackham's fairy posters in her room, to stop the girl having night terrors.  It worked.  I love Brian Froud's fairy artwork.- they  look so wizend and naughty, basically a lot of fun.  Froud joined forces with theHenson family and had a hand in the film The Labyrinth, so always a place in my heart.
