NaNoWriMo 2021 - Day 4 & 5

Have passed the 10k mark on NaNoWriMo 2021, so I am equalling my measly attempt circa 2003, when I only got as far as 10k and in panic, I tried to use some of my old stuff. My mistake was trying to edit and repair, which is not the aim of NNWM - the whole point is to just write and keep going, if you edit too much, you run the risk of block. It's not like you are landing a publishing deal, you are just throwing everything at it and yes, it's going to be bilge, but there will be nuggets of usable stuff. Thing is, NaNo has yielded several success stories, one specifically is Sara Gruen's Water For Elephants which was turned into a film, starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattison a few years ago.

Keeps me away from the worrying aspect of my life and gives me a challenge, for I haven't worked like this since pre higher education (of course, I wrote somewhere in the region of 100,000 total submission for my entire degree, but that is careful, considered academic writing, not turming on the 'word tap' and going out for a walk - thank you Tery Pratchet for that analogy). Effectively, I'm off the leash and loving it.
