Or rather in a Museum of Freaks, as a result from fleeing from a torched whore house and the failure of her family's ice cream business. Each freak has it's tale and as I read this, it is starting to sound like an extreme form of Jeanette Winterson's 'Twelve Dancing Princesses' in Sexing the Cherry, plus twisted fairy tales abound. Fevvers has just escaped a religious maniac, a Christian Rosencreuz (he of the Rosicrucian persuasion), who wants her as a fully-feathered, virgo-intacta angel/religious sacrifice. Not sure what AMORC would have to say about this.
Manage to read up to chapter five (or nearly a quarter of the way through). More tomorrow.
