Weather has finally changed and the tail end of Hurricane Joachim is now hitting our coastline albeit it very quietly at the moment. I have been avoiding work for most of the day, but have returned once more unto the breach. Spent some of the weekend turning the house upside down to look for my defunct passport (thankfully found). Tonight, I am studying the 'Criticism & Culture' reading material, which is mostly about Marx, but also others have turned up, like Balibar, Veblen and Simmel (photo above). I think the general gist is how we believe we are individuals, but in reality, that individualism has been shaped by commodities/consumerism. In fact, we seem to grade everything by our own experience and define ourselves by our acquisitions.
I can see this is going to be fun....
